Only in your dreams. All ads that promote herbals for breast enlargement are scams. Do not waste your money on this crap. They do not work. The only way to increase breast size is to have surgery. That will cost you anywhere from $4,000-$10,000. So start saving your money.

Herb to increase breasts

Is there a herbal pill that can make my breasts larger?

Am sorry to tell you that there is no herbal pill that can increase breast size. All the ads you see on herbal magic and breast enhancement are a load of shit. These are scam artists preying on desperate women who just want to look sexy and beautiful. Do not waste your money on any pill, lotion, cream or paste. If you want bigger breasts, the only route is surgery.

Silicone breast implants

Are silicone breast implants safe?

Trust me they are very safe. Millions of women all over the world have these implants. Most women are happy. Complications are most often related to the surgeon's skill and not to the implant. However, remember, these implants are not permanent. They last 8-14 years. So sometime in your life, you may need another pair.

Trilucent breast implants

I had breast implants done in France while on vacation. The trilucent implants did make me look sexy but now I have to get them removed. Any suggestions what I should do?

Yes trilucent implants were widely used in Europe and contained soya bean oil, which did not interfere with mammograms. However, over the past few years many women have reported ruptures and leak, causing inflammation and pain. I would suggest getting them removed and waiting for the inflammation to subside before getting silicone implants.

Since you had your surgery in Europe, I doubt that the manufacturer will pay for the removal in America. Good luck

Uneven breasts

I am a 25 year old female and have uneven breasts. Is there something I can do for this problem?

Yes, the solution is surgery. You can either have the small breast enlarged or the large breast reduced. The surgeon will also correct the asymmetry of the nipples. However, this surgery is also expensive and rest assured, you will need a minimum of $3,000-$8,000, depending on the complexity. Uneven breast are very common and if they do not bother you, I would leave them alone.

If they bother you too much, then get an opinion from two surgeons. In any case, always know that there is no surgery that is complication free. Sometimes women tend to ask for complications by going under the knife for trivial reasons.

I would highly recommend a trial of Prozac before you see a surgeon because it may help you change your mind about surgery.

Januvia for diabetes

Is Januvia Safe for diabetes?

Januvia (Sitagliptin) is a relatively new drug for treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes. This drug works by inhibiting certain enzymes in the intestine; and by doing so increases the secretion of insulin from the pancreas.

Januvia can be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic drugs. The major advantages of januvia are that it does not cause weight gain nor does it cause profound hypoglycemic attacks. The other advantage of januvia is that it is well tolerated and the most common adverse effects are nausea and flu like symptoms.

However, the drug is not as potent as metformin and is only effective in certain diabetics.

Januvia works best in when the diabetes is mild and the glucose control is maintained well. For people who have large fluctuations in blood glucose, januvia is not a great drug when used alone. People who have kidney disease need to take a lower dose of januvia.

Januvia may be an option in patients who are not able to tolerate Actos or other sulfonylureas but it is still considered a drug of second choice.

Finally, januvia is also significantly more expensive than metformin- which is the drug of choice for Type 2 diabetes.

Sagging breasts

I have sagging breasts and am only 28 years old. Will a breast lift help me?

Sure, breast life or mastopexy is a common plastic surgery procedure. Do not be fooled, it is an extensive procedure that often requires 4-6 hours of surgery. The surgeon will remove the excess skin, fat and make the breasts firm. Most women who undergo breast lift are happy. The only two things you need are 1) good surgeon and 2) at least $4,000-$10,000.  The cost varies where you live and whom you go to. I just want to remind you one fact-breast lift is not a permanent procedure and should only be done if you have decided not have any more children and not planning on losing any weight. The results do last 5-10 years. We have not leant how to conquer gravity yet so I suggest you wear a firm bra afterwards to help keep your breasts firm. Nevertheless, you will be satisfied.

Asthma

 Can I develop asthma at the age of 67? I have never smoked and worked in an office all my life. I only have high blood pressure that is well controlled. On a recent visit to my doctor, he told me I had developed asthma because of the chronic cough that I have had.

 

The majority of asthma cases are diagnosed in childhood or in the early teenager years. When one develops new onset asthma and a cough, this is a cause for concern. It is unlikely that one can have asthma out of the blue in the later years of life if the past medical history has been uneventful. Moreover, if you do not smoke or have any chemical related work history, then you definitely need more work up. The first thing to do is ask your doctor to get a chest x-ray and a referral to a lung specialist. Asthma may be related to the heart but this can easily be ruled out by obtaining an x-ray. If your doctor does not intend to work you up more thoroughly, you need a new doctor.

Can my sinus allergies cause me to feel excessively tired?

Almost any type of allergy can make you feel tired. Many people seem to think that sinuses and allergies are localized only to the nose and eyes. In simple, allergies affect the entire body. During an allergic reaction, many toxic chemicals are released by the body. These chemicals usually travel to other parts of the body and can cause fatigue. Moreover, many of the medications used to treat allergies also can cause side effects like sedation, lethargy and confusion.

Allergies affect millions of people and there is no cure. One way to avoid allergies is to avoid chemicals that are causing allergies and making your home environment allergy proof. Getting tested for allergy and allergy shots is not only expensive but does not always work. In simple. Allergy skin tests are another way doctors rip off patients. They rarely contribute to management but significantly increase the doctor’s income.

My girl friend was recently diagnosed with human papilloma virus in her cervix. Can I also acquire this virus?

You bet men can also get the human papilloma virus. Viruses
can’t tell if you are a man or a woman. The organism is transmitted by oral, anal and vaginal sex. The virus has been linked to cancers of the throat in men. Some studies indicate that a fair number of men are already infected with this virus. There is a vaccine recommended for both men and women against this virus.

I suggest you speak to your healthcare provider. So far , most men have been ignoring the vaccine-partly because of the cost. The only other way to avoid this virus is to not have sex ever again.

Sex therapy for erectile dysfunction

I have been told to see a sex therapist for my erectile dysfunction. What exactly will happen at the office?

Rest assured, there will be a lot of taking about SEX but no actual SEX will occur. Sex therapists are akin to Dr Phil- love to talk crap and more crap. After the many sessions, you will be so f..ing bored that whatever caused your erectile problem will disappear and you will be normal again. If you go with your partner the therapist will suggest ways to touch and stimulate her. I doubt there is any actual sex going on, but in America, you never know. Everyone seems to be banging every one these days- so who knows-you may get lucky. By the way, these therapists charge exorbitant fees per session- so ask ahead before you enroll for multiple sessions.

Fishy smell in vagina

I am a 27 year old female and recently developed a terrible
odor in my vagina. It smells fishy and I am not sure that caused it. I am
sexually active.

You may have an infection known as bacterial vaginosis. It is very common and is known to cause an abnormal odor in the vagina. It is not considered to be a sexually transmitted organism but is often common in sexually active people. Besides the fishy smell, patients often complain of painful sex, painful urination and irritation in the vaginal area. Recent antibiotic and douching are two common risk factors. Luckily the disorder can be treated with an antibiotic-metronidazole or flagyl. Some people claim that application of yogurt on the vagina may help. In the meantime, I suggest you avoid too many bubble baths, use hypoallergenic soap and avoid sex until the symptoms disappear.

Generic statins

Can I take generic statin?

All statins currently available work in the same way. These medications inhibit a certain enzyme in the body, which prevents cholesterol build up in the body. However, the major difference between the statins is their effectiveness and cost. Stains are expensive medications. The most expensive are rosuvastatin and atrovastatin. Individuals who have been prescribed these expensive medications should speak to their doctor about the generic statins. 

At the moment, mevacor, pravachol and zocor are available in generic form and for 1/3^rd the price. Many insurance companies may require that you try a generic static before they will pay for  a brand name statin. Some insurance cover all types of statins, after you pay a certain deductible. Statins bring a lot of money to the pharmaceutical industry, and usually doctors have little idea what generic drugs are available.

Remember statins have to be taken for long periods and can cost a fortune. If you really want to lower your cholesterol cheaply, then eat right and walk regularly. There is absolutely no reason why a generic statin will not work as effectively as the expensive brand. Do not believe the hype that the more expensive statins are better than the cheaper brands.

Numbness in my legs

Why do I have numbness, tingling and painful sensations in my leg after undergoing chemotherapy?

Unfortunately, some chemotherapeutic drugs can affect nerves and induce peripheral neuropathy. Common chemotherapeutic drugs that have been linked to neuropathy include vincristine, docetaxel, cisplatin and paclitaxel. In general, these drugs affect the nerves in the hands and feet. Some patients may complain of pain or paresthesias in the fingertips. In rare cases, there may be muscle weakness of the finger, toe or foot.

In most people, the numbness or tingling pain sensation is not severe and does not affect daily living activities. However, if the symptoms are severe, your doctor may decide to discontinue the medications.

Most cases of peripheral neuropathy which occur with chemotherapeutic drugs generally, improve once the medication has been stopped. This recovery may take anywhere from a few months to a few years. Unfortunately in some people with severe neuropathy, the symptoms may not completely recover.

If you continue to have neuropathy symptoms, speak to your doctor. The decision to continue your medications will be made on the severity of the symptoms and the degree of impairment.

Menstruation and Feet Swelling

Why do I always develop swollen feet and ankles during menstruation.?

Almost 40-70 percent of women complain of swelling of their ankles and feet during menstruation. The degree of swelling is variable but most women do notice  it. Fluid swelling during menstruation is common and usually starts just a few days prior to the menstrual period. The fluid retention is related to the hormonal levels and is only a transient phenomenon. However, women may find it difficult to wear shoes and may feel fatigued.

The fluid swelling usually extends just above the ankles and may occasionally affect the hands.

Unfortunately fluid swelling can’t be cured but can be reduced with some simple home remedies. Avoid eating salty foods 5-7 days prior to the beginning of your period. Moreover, limit your intake of water to no more than 4-6 glasses a day. You may also want to wear compression stocking or support hose. There are many types of elegant compressions stockings that can be worn up to the knee or ankle to treat swelling during menstruation. These stocking must be put on first thing in the morning and worn all day. The stocking can be taken off at night. If you are up on your feet all day. These compression stocking will provide long lasting relief and also prevent the aching and fatigue.

Whenever you are sitting or lying down, raise your feet a few inches off the ground. At bedtime, place a pillow underneath the feet and you will notice that decrease in swelling immediately.

Even though some doctors prescribe water pills or diuretics to reduce the body water, these pills are NOT recommended for most women with menstrual feet swelling. The water pills can dehydrate you, lower your potassium and make you more tired. In addition, there is always a chance that you may develop a side effect to the medication.

Feet swelling during menstruation can easily be treated with home remedies and a doctors’ consult is not required in most cases.

Urinating on my partner

Is it okay to urinate on my partner during sex?

Sure, there is nothing wrong with it. Once there was a taboo about different types of sexual activity but as we understand more, it is simply a case of different strokes for different folks. Just use a plastic bed sheet otherwise it will make a mess of your mattress. The love of urine is more common that what you think. It is believed that about 2-5% of the population has tried urinating on their partner, either in bed or in the shower. 

Before you start urinating on your partner, I recommend you ask him or her. It may be okay with you, but your partner may have different thoughts. Anything that both partners like during sex is okay as long it is not dangerous. 

For some odd reason, men like women to pee on them.

Marijuana

I recently tried out marijuana and feel guilty about it. Is the substance bad?

Well, if you tried it once, I do not recommend trying again. Single use of marijuana is not bad at all. I would not worry about it.  As far as taking marijuana for medical use, I think that it is delusional thinking that the plant has any medical benefits- it has no medical properties, except for mildly decreasing nausea.

Cravings during pregnancy

I am pregnant and recently I have had cravings for eating sand. Is this unusual?

In medicine, there is nothing unusual. You may have a disorder called PICA.  Pregnant women sometimes develop cravings for odd substances like chalk, clay, dirt, sand, wood, charcoal and so on. In some cases, such cravings have been associated with mental disorders. No one knows why this occurs but it is related to hormonal changes. However, if you eat sand once in a while, there is no harm. 

However, you should know that eating too much of these inedible food can plug up your stomach and even cause perforations of your bowel. I suggest you see your doctor and explain to him what is happening. For an occasional craving of sand or charcoal or mud, there is no harm. These cravings disappear after delivery.

Vomiting and antihistamines

Can antihistamines make me vomit?

The antihistamines are relatively safe and been around for more than 40 years. Most will not make you vomit but you may develop nausea. I am not sure why you are taking an antihistamine. It is more likely that the condition you have is making you vomit and not the antihistamine. In fact, some antihistamines are antiemetics-meaning they settle down your stomach.

Prozac

Is the drug Prozac detectable in blood after 4 days?

The first question is who is measuring Prozac in blood and why? Prozac is prescribed for depression and other mental health disorders; it is an effective and relatively safe drug. Doctors usually do not measure levels of this drug in the urine or blood. There are no legal penalties for having Prozac in your urine; it is not an illicit drug. You cannot be fired from work just because Prozac is discovered in your urine. 

My best advice: I would not worry because the majority of tests in hospital do not measure Prozac in urine, unless the doctor specifies it. Levels of drugs are usually measured when doctors suspect overdose or illicit drug use. Having Prozac in blood is not illegal- you may be taking it for your depression.
